4.4 light upgrade

Postby ITMA » Thu Mar 10, 2005 11:51 pm

This is the sort of post I really love (read detest).
It's not so much that while the poster is capable of understanding (some) of the technical aspects of the car, they have not been prepared to help others on the forum. What previous 'answer' posts have they contributed?

It's more that they are too damn lazy to check the forum for replies. They actually want us to spoon feed solutions directly to them.
Clearly they cannot grasp, or will not grasp, that forums are about sharing knowledge, contributed by the same people who seek knowledge in other areas.
Mutual co-operation, in other words.

Forums are not provided as a free consultancy service, enquirers are supposed to pay their way. I don't mean just money.

OK, everyone starts from a position of little knowledge, so all they can contribute is questions, which are valuable in bringing out knowledge that others have available, to be shared.
But this enquirer isn't interested in sharing, only in their own selfish interest.

Fortunately I don't have any knowledge about L322 lighting systems, so I can't feel guilty about not sharing :-)
However, don't let my views dissuade you from providing the technical solution the enquirer wants, privately or via the forum.

At this point I should put Rant Off:
but I'd be lying.

PS.
I am well aware that one person provides this Forum Platform, thankyou John, but any forum anywhere is only as good as the people who contribute answers. Questions can be as tricky, intelligent, thought provoking, or as simple as you like. If they never get answers, the questions will soon dry up.

Yes, I do feel better for that :-)
In fact, I'm going to keep a copy so that I can (sparingly) use it as a base for contributions to other forums, when the appropriate circumstances arise.

ITMA, thanks for the worthless fluff-if you want to be a dick, go elswhere please. my first post on this forum was a question too, and now I provide answers when I can.
he probably just found this page because this is the first big question he's had to search for info on, was your first post an answer to a question? doesn't look like it, since you're not even man (woman? don't want to discriminate, anyone can be an ass) enough to register so I would assume your first post was the above garbage.

fat, sorry your thread got off track, don't know about the lights myself but there are several threads on it, just do a search, or try calling Overfinch, they do good stuff with blinging out rangies..

and it's the euro ones, not the states one.

HID Retrofit

Postby Guest » Sat Mar 12, 2005 12:40 pm

I completed a HID retrofit on my 1998 Range Rover using a standard H4 kit that I purchased on eBay. It was a plug and play installation that I completed in about an hour with my son.

Just remove the old halogen H4 bulb (low beam) and replace with the HID bulb.
Next step is to mount the ballast securly to the air box on the drivers side and the battery box on the passenger side.
Final step is to plug headlight wiring harness into ballast connectors on both sides.

Hope this helps and good luck.

All of this is NOT WHAT this thread refers to!!!! this is the 4.4 HEADLIGHT conversion, these links are for xenon upgrade to the existing headlights on the old (p38a) car...

relax Roy, that's what threads do, just make a gentle nudge and it'll come back, no need to shout
